Marie-Louise Backhurst's new book Tracing your Channel Islands Ancestors has been published. Members of the Society can buy the book at the discounted price of £9.00 plus postage and packing.Look out for the flyer that accompanies Journal 131.
This site will be hosting a page where errata and updates to the book will be provided.

Copies of Issue 131 of the Journal for members in Europe, the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the rest of the world have now been posted and should be with members shortly. Copies for local Jersey members will be available at next week's meeting, and copies for members in the UK and Guernsey will be mailed out soon after that.
If you have anything that you wish to submit for publication in Journal 132, please contact the editor as soon as possible and by no later than 22 September.

The entire admissions from the Register from 1852-1929 (which was a bound publication) have been put online for family historians at Scribd. The files are at:
The online versions are not user-friendly, but they can be downloaded as .pdf files and rotated 90 degrees to make them easily readable.

We plan to withdraw the existing member interest list later this year, as in its current format it is simply not possible to maintain it. We will be contacting members in the autumn to ascertain a new list of interests, but there will be a limit of EIGHT NAMES PER MEMBER when we do so.

Following extensive negotiations with the Société Jersiaise, members of the Society are now able to use the Lord Coutanche Library at 7 Pier Road without the need to make a prior appointment. The SJ request only that members take their CIFHS membership cards.
John Paul Fuller, a CIFHS member since 1987 (member No.718) died 15 June 2009 in Arlington Virginia USA. The Le Riche and Le Boutillier families were his Jersey ancestors.
